Incredibly compact and pleasing to the eye, the HUL Pureit Marvella Slim RO Water Purifier is our favorite RO-based filtration system for this year.

The "Advanced Alert System" also lets you know when a filter is about to expire, which we thought was a very useful feature.

#4 - Kent Gold Optima 10-Litre Gravity Based Water Purifier
+ Easy installation and cleaning
+ Many included accessories
+ Great portability
+ 1 year warranty on device

The super-portable Kent Gold Optima 10-Litre Gravity Based Water Purifier is our recommended non-electric water purifier in India for this year.
Well-packaged, with a host of accessories and filters, this device only has good things to offer.
It's also very affordable, so this is a definite choice for bachelors and small offices.

#5 - Eureka Forbes Aquaguard Crystal Plus UV Water Purifier
+ Superb design
+ Retains nutrients in water
+ Intelligent auto shut-off
+ Back-flush for cleaning
- Water leakage
- Water tastes different
- Awkward power buttons
The Aquaguard Crystal Plus is a powerhouse of features and design choices.
The UV-based formula ensures that all microbes are eradicated, while the "Mineral Guard" technology keeps the nutrients in place.
The design is fascinating, although the water purifier can take up a lot of space in your kitchen.
It can also be wall-mounted easily.
The Eureka Forbes Aquaguard Crystal Plus UV Water Purifier is also a very intelligent device, featuring:
- Automatic shut-down in case of faulty equipment
- Automatic shut-off to save power (when the device is not used for longer than 10 minutes)
We found the ability to back-flush the water in the device very helpful.
This made cleaning the water purifier a simple task that didn't require manual effort.
Some things we did not like about this device, however:
- The water tastes... different, for lack of a better term.
We aren't entirely sure if this is because of the sample we used or the "Mineral Guard" technology in action
- The power buttons can be difficult to work with, as you need to push them all the way in.
Also there's a chance of spilling water on them as they are situated on the sides of the unit.
#6 - Ruby Ro+Uv+Tds Controller Water Purifier
+ High quality components
+ 6-stage filtration
+ Mineral cartridge
+ Very affordable
- Ugly design
- Poor installation support
This one's by a local brand that has done a good job building a water purifier worthy of competing with the big boys.
Introducing the Ruby Ro+Uv+Tds Controller Water Purifier!
Featuring high quality-assured Japanese components, the only thing keeping this device at the lower end of our list may be its poor design and installation support.
(Don't worry, we are linking a video below to help you install this and any generic water purifier)
The Ruby Ro+Uv+Tds Controller Water Purifier follows the standard 6-stage filtration:
- Pre-filter (watch the video below to install this)
- Sediment filter
- Pre-carbon filter
- RO filtration
- Post-carbon filter
- UV filtration
This device also comes with a Mineral Cartridge that adds 5 minerals to the purified water, so that's a bonus.
We were surprised by the very effective purification this device is capable of.
In fact, our sample of 800 ppm came all the way down to around a 100!...
...A tremendous job for a less well-known device such as this.
Overall, we'd say that this is one of the most affordable water purifiers in the market now which offers such high performance.
#7 - HUL Pureit WPAD100 Advanced 23-Litre Water Purifier
+ Easy to install
+ Narrow tower design
+ Mineral-rich water
+ No odor
- Chlorine taste in water
- Requires frequent cleaning
- Not suitable for very hard water
The HUL Pureit WPAD100 Advanced 23-Litre Water Purifier has a tall and narrow design that occupies less space.
Installation of the device is also simple - all you need to do is twist each component into place.
The filtration is primarily UV-based, so you can expect a germ-free experience and water full of nutrients.
What's even more impressive is that the entire 4-stage filtration process runs TWICE!
That's correct - two times, which ensured our samples were very safe to drink.
However, this comes at a price:
Only 9L of the entire 23L capacity is clean drinking water. Also, filtration takes time so we'd recommend leaving the device on before you go to bed at night.
There are some unfavorable things we noticed during our tests:
- The Germkill kit uses chlorine to kill the microbes in the water.
This resulted in our purified sample having a hint of chlorine taste.
- The water purifier required emptying occasionally, to prevent buildup of bacteria inside the filters.
- While cleaning the device, the Germkill kit can take some time to dry completely.
Regardless, we think the HUL Pureit WPAD100 Advanced Water Purifier is an affordable alternative for small families that provides a clean drinking water experience.

#8 - Eureka Forbes Aquasure Amrit Water Purifier
+ Non-chemical filtering
+ Demo CD for installation
+ Automatic cut-off
- Slow water flow
- Frequent cartridge change
- Only germ filter
Not many gravity-based water purifiers have a powerful germ filter like the Eureka Forbes Aquasure Amrit Water Purifier does.
Using what's called a "Kitanu Magnet", the filter is capable of getting rid of water-borne germs and cysts with ease.
You won't have to boil the water beforehand if you use the Eureka Forbes Aquasure Amrit Water Purifier.
The device has a bulky build, owing to the 20 litres of water storage, but we noticed the tank started to leak when filled beyond 18L.
The main advantages of using this device are:
- light-weight when empty
- spacious because of the tall-body design
The unit we tested arrived in great packaging, which included - additional cartridges and an installation CD!
We'd personally like to thank Eureka Forbes for this convenience, and the installation process went smoothly due to this.
We tested the filtration capabilities of the device and here are our observations:
- Purification is slow, taking almost 5 hours to filter 7L
- There's only a germ filter, so we'd advise against using hard water as a source
- The handle-tap is very delicate, and drips water occasionally
For a simple non-electric solution to your tap water source, we'd recommend the Eureka Forbes Aquasure Amrit Water Purifier for getting purified germ-free water.
#9 - Prestige Non Electric Water Purifier
+ Sleek design
+ 1 year warranty
- Cheap filter membrane
Sometimes, everyone just wants something simple and elegant, but effective at giving clean drinking water.
We present to you the Prestige Non Electric Water Purifier!
This is the most affordable option for a quality purifier that we reviewed this year.
It offers an eye-pleasing tower design that is fully transparent so you can see your pure water getting ready for a taste.
Being a gravity-based purifier, the only filter available is a very basic UF membrane.
This filter is thin, and felt cheap in quality but rest assured the water we tested was drinkable and free of chemicals.
We'd only advise that you do not use this with dirty or very hard water as the installed membrane won't be able to purify them.
#10 - Dhanvi Aquafresh Water Purifier With Ro + Uv+Uf+Tds Controller
+ Premium filter options
+ 7-stage filter system
- Brand identity..?
Our mega list already covered the best types of water purifiers in India to suit all your needs ranging from:

- Design and aesthetics
We thought we'd throw in a final option for those of you who are looking for all the premium features of our recommended water purifier Kent Grand Plus 8-Litre Mineral RO + UV/UF with TDS Controller, but being more affordable as well.
The Dhanvi Aquafresh Water Purifier With Ro + Uv+Uf+Tds Controller does both!
Our quick review of the device showed positive results that almost matched every aspect of a premium unit.
What's more, the water purifier includes a similar 6-stage filtration but with an added Mineralizer.
So, 7 stages in total!
Consider this a bonus option from DrinkClean.in 😉
